How to make a mosaic table top from a laminate table?
I have an ugly old kitchen table that I was going to throw out, but thought that I would try to give it a face-lift instead. I want to make a mosaic with ceramic tile pieces, but I’m not sure if it will work on the table’s surface because it is laminate. Do I have to sand it down or peel/chip off the laminate first to expose the wood?
ALSO…the table top is about 1.5 inches thick and I can’t figure out what to do with the edges for the mosaic. Should I just put grout on the side of the table? Any suggestions??

You should sand the laminate with 100 grit paper to degloss it, then use a wood or metal trim around the outer edge. Put your tiles in place then grout away. Don’t forget to use either epoxy grout or a sealer after your standard grout.
