Glass Tile ideas and Designs for the Bathroom
Glass tiles are known for their beauty and have in fact been used for hundreds of years, they are especially good for bathrooms and kitchens where moisture levels are high because glass tiles are non porous meaning they don’t absorb water. They are also extremely easy to clean and can open up small rooms by reflecting the light.
There are all sorts of designs in the bathroom where you can make glass tiles work and although glass tiles are generally harder to install, the finished product will be a fabulously designed bathroom which you can enjoy for years to come.
Glass tiles are ideal for backsplashes and different colours and sizes can be used to create a focal point in your bathroom. Glass tiles are generally more expensive than other tile brands but they are great for updating your bathroom and can be used in certain areas such as the backsplash and shower area. Ceramic or other tiles are often used together with glass tiles which make it a little less expensive. They can be used as borders or central patterns with other tiles as a surround.
Glass tiles come in a wide range of colours and sizes and although larger tiles are easier to install, smaller tiles are often used because of their beauty and style. Smaller tiles can be used around the edges of the shower and central area to create a design.
Glass tiles definitely need to be seen and shouldn’t be confined to places like an enclosed shower. Designs can be created around towel rings and as a border around the bath. Remember that you don’t have to Glass tile a whole wall to create a unique and stylish design. Mosaic Glass Tiles are also great in bathrooms and there are many different variations in styles. Plainer tiles are often used with intermittent Mosaic themed tiles either in a straight line or placed diagonally. Tiling on one wall of the shower is also a popular design and can really brighten up a small area. Glass tiles used in showers are ideal because they are very easy to clean and the variations of colour will really brighten up the area.
Glass tiles can also be used on the floor together with ceramic tiles; patterns can be designed to fit in around the borders or by completing a central glass tile design with ceramic tiles as a surround.
Glass tiles are more expensive but are defiantly worth the extra cost as they will add elegance and style in any bathroom. There is always the option to use glass tiles together with other tiles, keeping the cost to a minimum.
