What is the easiest way to remove dried oil painting?
I am working on a painting with a nice background. Currently, the painting is dried and I need to add some changes without modifying the rest of the background. The main ides is to create overlapped multilayer painting which shows contrasts on the design. Pretty much like a mosaic.
If it is really dry it will be quite hard.
However IMO your best best would be to put mineral spirits on top and scrape it with a rag.
Since paint does not cure for months, it might work.
You can always add on top without problem with oils.
