want to get into making mosaics! please help me i don’t know how/where to start!?
i really love mosiac decor. i always see pretty vases, etc with that beautiful sparkling glass. i want to make my own! preferably some kind of indoor decor, like a trunk or table coasters. problem is i have no idea where to start or what i need! please help!
I suggest you first look at the website below to learn a bit of information (first link), Then, call your library to find out if they have any books on creating mosaic art or how to begin working with mosaics. If any of the books they have are ones you might want to keep, check with abebooks.com to see if one of their bookellers has a copy available (you’ll save Big Time doing this).
To become comfortable working with the tiles, adhesives, etc., go to a craft store and buy a kit which comes with everything you’ll need.. The first thing I did was make a fruit bowl from a kit. The second thing was, when we built our house, I had the builder leave my bathroom floor ready to be tiled – I copied a shower-curtain pattern to put on the floor – it took about 30 hours to graph-paper the pattern and two months to do the tiling (one of those ‘never again’ projects!).
I agree with you that mosaics are beauiful – perhaps ,some day, you can visit the Alhambra in Andalucia, Spain – see second link. The third link should astonish you – micro-mosaics … if my eyesight was better than ‘dreadful’, this is something I would do.
I wish you miles of patience as you investigate this craft – it will prove to be very satisfying once you’ve created and finished your first project.
